Tiago Sampaio is the innovative young winemaker of Folias de Baco, a project started in 2007 that one could say was spearheaded in his childhood piggybacking on his grandfather through the farms and vineyards, always curious and plucky, willing to experiment at every step of the way. This delightful unfiltered skin-contact pet nat hails from vineyards in the Douro sub-region of Cima-Corgo (Alijó) and are at average altitudes of 600m, in soils derived from shale and granite. Made from the indigenous Moscatel Galego, the wine offers sunny floral and fruit aromas, with a delicate texture. Dry and fresh, this sparkler is a cinch with fried foods, salads, and vegetarian fare. Grab a glass on the stoop or in the park and prepare to be transported to Portugal in late-summer. Organic.
