Montenidoli, in Italian, is "the mountain of the little nests," 24 hectares of vineyards surrounded by 200 hectares of woodlands. The Etruscans were the first to discover and plant vines in this unique terroir. Centuries later, in the 1960s, husband and wife winemakers Sergio and Elisabetta bought this San Gimignano, Tusany estate, and the rest, as they say, was delicious history. This rose is made from 100% Canaiolo, hand harvested and lightly pressed, and fermented slowly at low temperatures. The result is a fresh, pale pink wine with aromas of apples, cherries, red flowers, and lemon zest. The palate is crisp and dry with a soft texture and flavors of red apple skin, mint, cherries, and slight citrus notes. This wine is a wonderful opener to an al fresco evening meal and a stunning parter to white meats, carpaccio, and seafood pastas.
