Matthiasson Family Vineyards is the effort of Steve and Jill Klein Matthiasson and their two sons. This red blend, made from Aglianico, Montepulciano, and Barbera was grown the pink, gravelly alluvium soils that comprise the Windmill vineyard, in Yolo County. Fermented at cool temperatures and aged in neutral barrels, the wine is styled after the easy, food-friendly bistro wines of Italy and France. Fresh and fruity, the wine offers notes of red and black fruit, balanced by elegant acidity and a lengthy finish that leaves you wanting more. Bottled unfiltered, with no added sulfur, this is a great partner for hors d'oeuvres or homemade pizzas.
