The name Lammershoek dates back more than 300 years, tied to a legacy that supports and protects the environment. Meaning “lambs’ corner," legend has it that ewes sought shelter for their young in the forest near the Paardeberg Mountain, alongside the farm when they felt threatened. From dry land (unirrigated) bush vine vineyards between 15 and 42 years old, this Pinotage is made from organically grown grapes pressed early to give it a Beaujolais-like freshness and lightness. Aged for 10 month in concrete tanks, the wine is plush and soft with aromas of cherries, plums, and blueberries with warm spice undertones.
