Roche-Audran is a biodynamic producer whose vineyards are situated in the two prestigious Rhone villages of Visan and Buisson. The complexity of the wines can be attributed to the soil, which has a similar makeup to the soils in Chateauneuf-du-Pape£ rocky soil of red and black alluvial deposits covered by large, round stones. We had the pleasure of tasting all of the domaine's wines with the winemaker, Vincent Rochette, here in the store. All of the wines were outstanding, but this cuvee really jumped out at us. The grapes are sourced from Vincent's grandmother's vineyard where the vines are, on average, around 60 years old. Deep aromas of black pepper, spice and brush, followed by a mouthful of dark cherry, plum and mulberry, with savory hints of fennel and cocoa on the finish. Perfect for rich, layered dishes and hearty game.
