Château Sipian has been recognized as a great estate on Bordeaux's Left Bank since the 1840‘s. Bernard and Nicole Méhaye purchased the estate in the 1978, which is situated on a hill of rare Garonnaise gravel, overlooking the Gironde estuary. Helmed by their son, Frédéric, the Château uses sustainable farming methods with a goal of "clean wine" that captures the quintessence of the Medoc. This classic Left Bank Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, a late-flowering variety admired for its role in some of the greatest wines of Margaux, is a great example of these ideals at work. In the glass, the wine is a rich dark purple, with aromas of black cherries, violets, and sweet herbs. On the palate flavors of redcurrants, white pepper, and dark cacao, blossom and expand--the perfect compliment to meats and hearty stews. Drink now or save for a few years.
