Caroni was a distillery that operated on the island of Trinidad from 1923 until its untimely closing in 2003. While the stills were sold to Angostura, 7 of the reserve barrels were picked up by French company Le Maison Velier, who continued to age them in Trinidad until 2017. 80% of the liquid in the barrel evaporated during this time, leaving an extra-concentrated rum. This rare bottle from a now extinct distillery is a unique snapshot of lost history, with flavors and aromas of mango, bannana, minerally asphalt and copper, roasted almonds, leather, prune and treacle. At 55% alcohol, this is a true rum lover's rum.
